Mid Term Admission Arrangements

Should you wish your child to join Walthamstow Academy please note that all admissions are dealt with on our behalf by the London Borough of Waltham Forest Admissions Service.

All in year applications will only be put on the waiting list if the parents request this on the reply slip, if the year group is full.  If they do not request to be placed on the waiting list, we do not add them on the waiting list. However, if they state they wish to be placed on the waiting list, we will input this on our system and they will then be ranking by the over subscription criteria. When a space become available the child with the highest preference will be allocated accordingly. All parents are advised that the waiting list is a fluid list and can change any time of the day due to new applications that come in and may be ranked higher than those on the waiting list. All parents have the right to appeal once in each academic year.

This applies to students joining the school mid-year admissions for any year group, except Years 12 & 13 where they must be made directly to the Academy. (See Sixth Form applications page here)

Full details and advice on Academy admissions can be found on the London Borough of Waltham Forest Admissions Service website.

Admission Policy consultation

In order to ensure that arrangements meet the needs of the local area, admission authorities have a duty to consult with relevant parents and the local community on their proposed admission arrangements, which include the overall procedure, practices, criteria and supplementary information to be used in deciding on the allocation of school places.

To this end the Governing Body of Walthamstow Academy and Sixth Form is consulting on its proposed admission arrangements for September 2018.

The Consultation with regards to changes to the Admissions Policy for admission to Walthamstow Academy in September 2018 is commencing as of today 14 November 2016, and will conclude at midnight on 23 December 2016.

We are consulting on the Academy’s admission arrangements. These arrangements are for students who will be starting secondary school in September 2018, or requesting admission to the Academy between September 2018 and July 2019. Waltham Forest Admissions services are responsible for offering or refusing places at the Academy.

We would welcome your views on the proposed arrangements. There are two proposed changes to the oversubscription criteria, both of which are to be considered separately by the Governing Body. You can see the proposed changes by clicking here to download the letter.  You are invited to give feedback by emailing Consultation@walthamstow-academy.org   For a full list of active Walthamstow Academy and United Learning policies, including the Admissions Policy, please click here.
