Extra-Curricular Activities

Extracurricular drama plays an important role within the Academy. Our Academy Production for 2015 was ‘Bugsy Malone' which was a fantastic performance for students and audiences alike. We followed this with a promenade performance in 2016 of ‘The Little Shop of Horrors’. Students have previously had the option to participate in the Shakespeare for Schools Festival where students performed a famous Shakespeare play on a professional stage in front of their friends, peers and members of others schools.

Our Extra-Curricular performance 2017 will see Walthamstow Academy entering a prestigious Drama Festival – National Theatre Connections. Mr. Gill and Mr. Thorn have selected a brand new play entitled ‘The Monstrum’ to direct to a standard higher than ever before. The play concerns an isolated Nordic Village where an infection has broken out among children. The village doctor believes he has a cure…but what will be the price the village has to pay? The show will be performed at Walthamstow Academy on the 9th and 10th of February and at the Arts Depot, North Finchley sometime in late April…more details to follow.

“Being part of ‘We Will Rock You’ has made me really confident since starting secondary school, and I am really enjoying working with other students from other year groups from the Academy. It’s really fun!” Kaylee Bancroft 7D.

“When I first came to Walthamstow Academy I was really concerned that I didn’t know many people, but being part of ‘We Will Rock You’ has helped me make friends with lots of different people and I’m learning new things.” Lewis Nimmick 7C.
