Key Stage 4 Art

Art is a popular option choice at Walthamstow Academy with students participating in five hours of art per fortnight. Students study the OCR GCSE Art syllabus in which students explore a whole variety of materials and techniques, stimuli and topics that aim to develop and refine their skillset even further.

Students research and explore relevant cultures and artists, showing an understanding of their work and creating pieces in their style. Students are assessed through their coursework projects which equate to 60% of their overall grade and their OCR set task exam project is worth 40%.

The year 11 students produce final pieces for their chosen coursework project (during a 10 hour mock exam in the December) and their set task project (during a 10 hour final exam in the following April).
